Mentoring Program
NCPRSA’s new Mentoring Program borrows its inspiration from this time-tested adage: The best way to learn something is to teach it to someone else. Fortunately, NCPRSA’s membership roster is ripe with seasoned professionals whose business and life experiences can serve as valuable teaching tools for both their peers and new practitioners just joining the profession.
The NCPRSA Board is evaluating members’ interest in participating in a mentoring initiative that would begin pairing mentors and protégés this fall. A benefit offered exclusively to NCPRSA members, the free program would provide a platform for protégés to find a willing listener who can serve as a sounding board, give advice and encouragement, and aid career development. And it would offer experienced NCPRSA professionals an opportunity to share their unique gifts with the profession, continue their own lifelong learning and add to a shared legacy of knowledge that’s critical to enlightening and energizing the profession. Which all brings to mind another old adage: Everybody wins.
