"Enabling Practitioners to Deal with Their Professional Concerns"


MISSION

The mission of NCPRSA is to enable practitioners - in all types of practice, both members and non-members, and at all levels of experience - to develop their public relations and management skills, demonstrate the value of public relations to others, and deal with personal issues affecting their performance, by providing them with appropriate resources.

LONG TERM VISION

The vision of NCPRSA is to be a non-profit business selling services that are most valued by PR practitioners who want to develop their public relations and management skills, demonstrate the value of public relations, and deal with related personal issues.

Strategic Objectives

Objective I. Enable practitioners to demonstrate the value of public relations to their organizations or clients by providing them with resource materials, education and member counsel. Focus especially on the following key concerns:

Having others understand the role of PR
Being recognized for providing strategic and added value
Demonstrating value to clients or organizations
Competition faced by one’s organization
Re-establishing one’s worth to new managements
Fostering better relations with marketing and advertising people
Working with people in information technology, human resources, management development
Difficulty in finding a job in this locality
News media people who are difficult to deal with
How to give back to the profession
Availability of clients or jobs
Job Security ? ?
Competition faced within the organization

Objective II. Enable practitioners to develop their public relations skills by providing them with time-effective learning opportunities specific to various levels of experience, and by promoting and facilitating accreditation by the Public Relations Society of America. Focus especially on the following key concerns:

Information overload
Developing new skills
Time constraints in job performance
Keeping up with trends
Taking on new roles
Working with people in technology, hr…

Objective III. Enable practitioners to develop management skills, such as leadership, staffing, coaching, and budgeting, by providing them with specific, targeted learning opportunities. Focus especially on the following key concerns:

Information overload
Budget management
Hiring and retaining good people
Providing employees with new skills
Managing creative people

Objective IV. Enable practitioners to address work/life issues that affect their professional performance by providing them with formal and informal opportunities for information exchange and networking. Focus especially on the following key concerns:

Time constraints in job performance
Balancing career with family and life style
Taking on new roles
Flexible work options
Availability of clients or jobs
How to give back to the profession
Job Security
Boredom from repetition - job burn-out
Second careers - part-time careers
Competition faced by one within the organization
